Cushioned, hard-wearing alpaca boot socks for cold, wet and long days outdoors. Built for walking boots, wellies and work boots, with a stretchy blend that holds its shape under a boot cuff.

Alpaca is naturally hypoallergenic, warm for its weight and odour-resistant, which makes these a strong choice for farmers, dog walkers, hikers and anyone who spends the day in boots.

FAQ

Are these good for wellies?
Yes. The boot length and cushioning are designed for wellies and walking boots, and alpaca stays warm in cold conditions.

Are alpaca socks warmer than merino?
Alpaca fibre is partly hollow, so it traps warm air and is generally warmer for its weight than merino, while staying breathable.

Do alpaca socks itch?
Alpaca contains no lanolin and has a smooth fibre surface, so most people, including many who find wool itchy, find it soft against the skin.

Wash and care

  • Machine wash cold on a wool or delicates cycle with a mild wool detergent.
  • No bleach or fabric conditioner, as they reduce breathability.
  • Wash inside out; a mesh laundry bag helps hold the shape.
  • Do not tumble dry. Reshape while damp and dry flat.
  • Alpaca is naturally odour-resistant, so airing between wears is often enough.

More Details

Built for boots, wellingtons and cold-weather days outdoors, our Boot Socks are knitted from a 74% alpaca, 23% nylon, 3% spandex blend — combining alpaca’s hollow-fibre warmth with the durability and stretch needed for a snug, all-day fit inside boots. Whether you’re walking the countryside, mucking out, or just need extra warmth in wellies on a wet UK morning, these socks are made to work as hard as you do.

  • 74% Alpaca / 23% Nylon / 3% Spandex — hollow-core alpaca fibres trap heat for exceptional warmth, while nylon and spandex add durability and a snug, supportive stretch.
  • Cushioned sole and reinforced heel — extra padding underfoot for comfort on long walks, standing shifts, or a full day in wellingtons.
  • Naturally hypoallergenic — alpaca contains no lanolin, making it a gentler choice than sheep’s wool for sensitive skin.
  • Odour and moisture resistant — stays fresh through multi-day wear, even in warm or sweaty boots.
  • Durable by design — built to our published 30-wash durability standard, so they hold their shape and warmth wash after wash.
  • Responsibly sourced — natural alpaca fibre, designed in the UK.

Pair with our Alpaca Crew or Ankle Socks for a full alpaca wardrobe, or shop the complete alpaca wool range for more cold-weather essentials. Free UK delivery on orders over £60, backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Care Guide

Alpaca and merino are durable, naturally antimicrobial fibres. A little care keeps them soft and shaped for years.

Wash

  • Cool or cold water, gentle/delicate cycle
  • Turn inside-out and use a mesh laundry bag
  • Mild knitwear/delicates detergent — no bleach, no fabric softener

Dry

  • Lay flat or hang by the toe
  • Never tumble dry on high heat (causes felting & shrinkage)
  • Reshape while damp

Wear & Store

  • Wash every few wears, not every wear (alpaca & merino stay fresher longer than cotton)
  • Fold flat — don’t roll tightly or stretch the cuff
  • Store clean in a breathable drawer; cedar or lavender deters moths naturally

Pilling?

It’s natural, not a fault. Gently remove with a fabric comb or pill shaver — never pull by hand. Pilling reduces after the first few washes.

"From Gallery Floors to the Apiary"

I spend my working days on my feet, guarding the nation's treasures at the Fitzwilliam Museum — easily 10,000 steps a day walking the gallery floors. Noble Crew socks have become a daily essential. They're warm, genuinely comfortable, and hold up brilliantly to hours of standing and walking without a second thought.

What I didn't expect was how well they'd suit life outside work too. As a hobbyist beekeeper, I wear my Noble socks whenever we do hive inspections — they're just as at home outdoors as they are on museum floors. Whether I'm on duty or tending the hives, my feet stay comfortable all day.

Thoroughly recommend Noble socks — for work, for the outdoors, for everything in between.

After forty years flying commercially, retirement hasn't kept me out of the sky. I still take my Tiger Moth up most weekends, open cockpit and all. At altitude, the cold bites fast — but my Noble alpaca wool socks keep my feet properly warm the whole flight. Lightweight, breathable, remarkably insulating. Simply the best socks I've flown in. Highly recommended.

Salt Air and Sixteen Miles

I walk the old pilgrim paths along the North Norfolk coast most months — wind off the sea, mud underfoot, and never quite the weather you dressed for. These alpaca socks are the reason my feet stop being part of the conversation. Warm when the wind turns, dry even when the boots aren’t, and no blisters after sixteen miles into Wells-next-the-Sea. Simple as that: they let me think about the walk, not my feet.

JENNY H. — North Norfolk Coast Path

A woman stands outdoors on a grassy hill with bare trees and a blue sky, smiling while wearing a dark coat, patterned sweater, jeans, and boots. A brown dog sits nearby holding a tennis ball.

From Border to Bridleway

Half my week is spent on my knees in the borders, the other half out on the bridleways with the dog. I needed one sock that could do both, and I hadn’t expected to find it.

Noble socks have become the one I reach for without thinking. Soft enough for a morning of weeding, sturdy enough for a six-mile loop by the afternoon — no rubbing, no damp, no fuss.

They’ve earned their place in the boot rack. High praise from someone who owns rather a lot of socks.

Noble Alpaca Socks

Frequently Asked Questions

Are alpaca socks really worth it?

Yes — Noble alpaca socks are worth it if you want genuine warmth, comfort, and durability from a natural fibre. Alpaca wool is naturally insulating, breathable, and moisture-wicking, so your feet stay warm without overheating. They cost more upfront than standard socks, but the quality holds up wash after wash, so they pay for themselves over time.

What's so special about Noble alpaca socks?

Noble alpaca socks are exceptionally soft, lightweight, and naturally insulating. The hollow structure of alpaca fibre traps warmth while staying breathable, keeping feet cosy without bulk. They're also hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking, and built to last — an everyday luxury, not a treat.

Are Noble alpaca socks warmer than wool?

Yes. Alpaca fibre has a hollow core that retains heat more efficiently than traditional sheep's wool, giving you insulation without the weight. Warmth without the bulk.

How do I care for and wash Noble alpaca socks?

Wash in cool water (30°C) on a gentle or wool cycle with mild detergent. Avoid heat and tumble drying. Reshape while damp and lay flat to air dry — this keeps the softness and fit intact for years, not just months.

Can Noble alpaca wool socks be worn as bed socks?

Yes — Noble alpaca wool socks are perfect as bed socks, for lounging, and for working from home. Their soft, medium-weight alpaca yarn keeps feet warm and cosy without overheating, ideal for cold nights or long WFH days at your desk. Naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, they stay comfortable for hours, making them a versatile go-to for rest, relaxation, and everyday home comfort.

Are Noble socks unisex?

Yes. Every Noble sock is designed to be unisex.

Is there free delivery?

Free UK shipping is included when you spend £60— so buying an accessory or another sock is the easiest way to avoid delivery charges.

Are Noble socks sustainable?

Yes. Noble is built on ethical sourcing — our alpaca fibre comes from non-mulesed animals, and the brand is designed around a sustainable, outdoor-first ethos rather than fast-fashion turnover.

Real wool. Real comfort. Every step.

Every pair starts with the finest natural fibres — alpaca and merino, chosen for softness, warmth and resilience that lasts. We knit them on our unique vintage Bentley Komet machines in Portugal, a technique few factories still keep alive, built for density and durability that modern mass-production can't match. The result isn't a fast-fashion sock — it's a proper one. Comfortable underfoot, tough enough for miles, and made the way good socks always used to be made.
